Program Notes: Commissioned by Mark Williams for the Jesus College choristers (University of Cambridge, UK) Come Unto Me (2014) is a brief meditation on the comforting words found in Matthew 11: 28-29. The primary translation used is the English (King James version) but two antiphon-like interpolations from the Latin translation intensify the textual invitation’s immediacy by stripping away the sense of meter and relative rhythmic steadiness found in the English sections.
