Program Notes: Once the Spring 2015 semester came to an end (April 26), I was hit by an unexpected surge of inspiration! Without dealing with the balancing act of classes, homework, teaching, grading, prepping, etc. I discovered there was music lying dormant within me. Impetus refers to a driving force behind something:  My “impetus” behind writing this piece was the virtuosity and musicality of the incredible violist, Jarita Ng.
